This Pharaoh of Egypt is not too smart. Moses and Aaron speak to Pharaoh saying these things are from God, but yet he does not believe!
At first, the plagues that were brought were not too severe. Even Pharaoh's magicians could do the same thing! That still boggles my mind in that there were magicians who did not follow God who could do the same things...to a point.
Once Moses took the dust of the Earth and turned it into swarms of gnats, even the magicians said, "This is the finger of God." (chapter 8 verse 19) But still, Pharaoh did not believe.
I think I am more like this Pharaoh than I want to be. God can be throwing me sign after sign after sign of His awesome power, His grace, His generosity and His love, but I quite often miss it! God brings storms, moves trees with the wind, protects me each day and blesses me with a place of work and a steady income. There are so many other ways God shows himself. It is necessary to take time in quiet and reverence and see God's signs every day.
hey drew! You've inspired me to start my own blog! :P I'm also following your blog, I hope you don't mind!
ReplyDeleteIn regard to your post: I think we all underestimate God's power, who can really fully understand it and actually give Him the credit He deserves? And how often we forget about the small portion of His power that we can understand! For example, God has done some pretty amazing things in my life, but after I marvel at it for a while, when trials come, often it slips my mind! We should write it down or something...all the incredible things God has done with our lives. Somehow it seems like when I write things down I do not forget as quickly.
