Day 57

God requires Moses to take a census of the Israelite men in Numbers 1. I have always had this idea that the Israelites were a small nation, but after the census was completed, there was a total of 603,550 men! This only includes men twenty years old and upward and does not include the women and children. I assume with them added, it is at the very least 1,000,000 people!

I did not expect this when reading these passages, but that helps to put things into perspective. It also shows how great of a leader Moses must have been. He was the leader of 1,000,000 people.

I believe God was with Moses and was helping him lead. I hope and I pray that I can be a leader like Moses: great, because God is with me and makes me great.
