In today's reading, David's wives were taken captive while he was away. If he loved his wife like I love mine, I cannot imagine the grief and the pain David must have felt! I cannot imagine having my wife taken from me.
Chapter 30 verse 6 says, "And David was greatly distressed...all the people were bitter in soul." But following that is the greatest part of this story. One I need to take a lesson from. The last part of verse 6 says, "But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God."
David was at his weakest and most distressed, but he strengthened himself in the Lord his God! What an awesome lesson of where Christians find their true strength. This is great to remember in times of trouble.
