Day 16

After several years, Joseph finally gets to see his brothers again! I think this is such a cool story. The Lord reveals his brothers' identities to Joseph when his brothers bow before him. At that time, Joseph remembers his dream and how his brothers would bow down to him. Then both his brothers and his father laughed at him when he said his brothers would one day bow down to him, but it came true!

Once again, this is a story of forgiveness. Joseph knows these men are his brothers and he remembers what his brothers did to him when he was younger. Joseph has every right and the authority to put his brothers to death! But instead, he takes them in, feeds them, gives them all the food they need and their money back and sends them on their way. When his brothers come back, Joseph is overcome with emotion as he prepares to reveal his true identity to them. He has a lot of love for both his brothers and his father.

This is true forgiveness. Joseph has every right to do his worst to his brothers, but instead he gives them food, money and ultimately, brings them back to Egypt and gives them the best land as their own.

Once again, I need to learn and practice the forgiveness described in these pages.
