Day 167

I love the contrast between Elisha and his servant. The entire army of Syria came after Elisha in his own town. The army surrounded the city and Elisha knew they were coming after him. Elisha's servant was afraid, but then Elisha said one of the greatest lines in all the Bible.

Elisha says in 2 Kings 6 verse 16, "Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them." Verse 17 says, "So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."

Whoa! This one line is such a comfort to me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or my faith is weak, I say this line to myself. "Do not be afraid, for those who are with me are more than those who are with them."

I rest in the comfort of knowing that there are far more with me than anyone or anything else because my trust is in the Lord.
