Jackie Roese gave a message at our church a few weeks ago about gleaning. She touched on this passage, chapter 19 verses 9 and 10. It was really neat to hear her talk about how to apply this to current day.
The passage states, "When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, neither shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. And you shall not strip your vineyard bare, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the LORD your God."
I believe this speaks to not just farmers but me as well! I believe this says that whatever my talents, gifts or blessings, share them with those who are lacking. Share and give to those who do not have the means to obtain what I have when I have an abundance. This can be monetary gifts, other blessings, or even the teaching of new skills. Bless others with my gifts and they will truly see Christ through me.
