Chapter 24 verses 17 through 23 are the famous verses which declare "...fracture for fracture, eye for eye and a tooth for tooth" but I find it interesting that in the New Testament, this changes. Skipping way ahead to Matthew 5 verse 38, "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."
I wonder why this changes. Could it be that when this was originally stated in Leviticus, there was no law or courts or order, but later in the time of Matthew, courts existed to establish order among the people?
I have found that an eye for eye only creates anger and more problems, rather than solving them. I heard a saying that goes, "An eye for an eye, then 2 people blind." From my experiences, revenge is not sweet.
