Day 258

I cannot imagine the shame that Haman must have felt when he was taking Mordecai through the city on a horse proclaiming what a good man Mordecai was.

Haman was intending to ask the king to hang Mordecai, but instead was presented with a question. Esther 6 verse 6 says, "So Haman came in, and the king said to him, 'What should be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?' And Haman said to himself, 'Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?'"

Haman described to the king what I'm sure was his desire of a way to be honored. The king said, "Go and do all that you have described for Mordecai!"...Ouch!

I find quite often that when I start to think I am more than what I am, the Lord humbles me. It is usually something like tripping on my own feet or another embarrassing moment that reminds me that I am not that great. However, I am the Lord's child and I take great comfort in that fact.
