I have a lot of respect for Moses. Again he proves he is a great leader.
Chapter 27 verses 12 through 23 describe how God tells Moses that he will not live to see the promised land. Moses doesn't argue or complain. Instead he is concerned about the people. He asks God to "...appoint a man over the congregation who shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the Lord may not be as sheep that have no shepherd." (verses 16 through 17)
Moses wanted to make sure the people were taken care of after he is gone. So the Lord chose Joshua and instructed Moses to show in front of all the people and the priest that he was transferring some of his authority to Joshua.
How awesome it must have been for Joshua to know that God chose him to be Moses's successor. Then I wonder what has the Lord chose me for? What does He have waiting for me?
