David is getting older and wants to set things up for his son Solomon to take over. There were 38,000 Levite men who were thirty years old and upward. David organized them the way that he saw fit.
David organized them in the following way per 1 Chronicles 23 verses 4 and 5, "24,000 [were charged to] work in the house of the Lord. 6,000 shall be officers and judges, 4,000 gatekeepers..." but the one that astonished me was, "...4,000 shall offer praises to the Lord with instruments..."
David set apart 4,000 men to offer praises to the Lord! I believe this shows how important praise is. David is the main contributor to the Psalms and was also known as one of the greatest of the Lord's servants. He knew how important praise was. I will not forget to praise my Lord!
