I have been looking forward to reading of Solomon. I know he wrote the book of Proverbs and was very wise.
Solomon, like his father David, followed the Lord. One night, the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream and offered him whatever he asked for. Many would have asked for riches, or long life, or bad things to happen to their enemies, but Solomon asked for wisdom in being king over the Lord's people.
Because of this request, the Lord blessed Solomon beyond measure. He did receive wisdom, but so much more. He was blessed more than any other king before or after him.
I believe Solomon received all this due to his selflessness and to his faithfulness to God. He knew God put him in that position and has blessed him so far, so he wanted to do well in the task God has set up for him. He asked God for the proper tools to do what God has asked of him.
I pray that I can accomplish what God has in place for me to the best of my ability using the gifts God has blessed me with, and with the gifts God will bless me with.
