I can just imagine David collecting all the gold, silver, bronze and iron along with precious stones for the temple. I can also imagine all of the people wondering what all of this is for. They may have thought the king was going to keep it for himself.
I also think it was pretty cool when David announced in 1 Chronicles 29 verse 1, "Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great, for the palace will not be for man but for the Lord God..."
David announced the leader, Solomon, all the items they have been collecting were for a palace, and the palace is going to be for the Lord, not for himself or his sons. I bet that was a lot to swallow. But I like how he puts this, "The work is great, for the palace will be for the Lord God."
David has his priorities in order. The great things are for the Lord. He was also a good example for the next king of Israel, Solomon.
I will work to have my priorities straight like David, and also I pray that I can be a great example to my son like David was to Solomon.
