Day 241

Once again in today's reading, I find how just the Lord is. In Jeremiah 44, the people are asking why they are in exile. They are asking why they are suffering and why the Lord does not give them their land back.

Jeremiah 44 verse 23 gives the reply. It says, "It is because you made offerings and because you sinned against the Lord and did not obey the voice of the Lord or walk in His law and in His statutes and in His testimonies that this disaster has happened to you, as at this day."

Plain and simple; the events that happened were because they sinned against the Lord.

I wonder how often the bad things that happen to me are because of my sin. Is it all of the bad things? Is it some of them?

To me it does not matter. I believe the Lord does punish me for my sins on a daily basis and I know that He is just in His punishments. I thank the Lord for loving me enough to punish me. For punishment and discipline from a just God only makes me more righteous.
