Day 287

In this reading, Jesus was put to the test by the Pharisees. A woman who, by local law, deserved to be stoned by the people was brought to Jesus. They wanted to test Him to see if Jesus would throw stones at her as per the law.

Jesus responds to their test by saying in John 8 verse 7, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her."

Jesus is saying that only the one who is sinless has the right to judge. The only person that is sinless is the Lord. Therefore, do not judge others.

I have to remember to be pure with my comments. I have to talk positively about others, and build others up. Also, it is not my place to judge others. This is the Lord's responsibility, not ours.

Even in our minds we must refrain from judging others. I will work on being pure with my comments and not judging others when I have no right to do so.
