In chapter 28, Jacob has a dream that he sees God on top of a ladder or a flight of steps that reaches to the heavens. There are angels going up and down the ladder or steps.
God speaks to Jacob and says, "...Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go...for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you." What a great promise! God promises He will take care of Jacob wherever he goes and He also says he will keep His promises.
We as Christians are descendants of Abraham and this promise is extended to us. God will keep us wherever we go and He will not leave us until He has done what He promised. The promise that I am drawn to is found in Jeremiah 29 verse 11. It says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
God is not going to leave us until He has fulfilled all of His promises! In this, I take great comfort in knowing that God is with me and He will not leave me wherever I go. He will be there until He has done what He has promised. Once again, I am working on taking these words as my own, and fully relying on Him. That is my challenge both today and always.
