Day 8

"Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age...Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him in the cave...with Sarah his wife." To me this speaks volumes about Abraham.

First of all, he died in a good old age. This implies completeness and a full life. As if to say living any longer would be a waste. I hope others will be able to say that about my life. To say I died after a full and complete life. to say that living any longer would not be full or complete, so why carry on. To say it is time to meet Christ in the heavenly realm. I both long for that day, and hope that day does not come for a while. I look forward to many more years with my wife and son if that is the Lord's plan.

I also think it speaks very highly of both Abraham and his sons when the Bible specifies that Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah. Even in death it only seemed fitting to Isaac and Ishmael to lay their father Abraham next to Sarah. This shows how much Abraham loved Sarah and how easily it was to see their affection for each other.

I love my wife with all of my heart and I hope others can see that even in death, I do not want to be apart from her. I want to be buried right next to her forever. I also hope that when the day comes, we will both be in heaven together praising God for all eternity.

This is how I want to live my life and how I want to model my relationship with my wife. I want others to see no alternative but to bury us right next to each other because we belong nowhere else, even in death. That is how much love and affection I want to show my wife each and every day. I continue to strive to meet this goal.
