Job's friend Eliphaz comes to Job and tries to comfort him in his time of misery. After several days of sitting with Job in silence, Elihaz speaks. He says that Job must have done something wrong in the eyes of the Lord in order to be so miserable. He says for if Job was innocent, God would be taking care of him instead of punishing him (chapter 5 verses 8-27).
This is so ironic because Job and Elihaz do not know what happened just chapters before. Job has done nothing wrong! Job is being tested. And also, God is not the one making Job so miserable. It is Satan! However, God did allow Satan to do these things to Job.
This makes me wonder how often I am being tested. When things are not going my way or when I am miserable, is God allowing Satan to have bad come upon me? Am I being tested? Am I being shaped and molded into what God needs me for?
