How insulting it must have been for the Lord in Ezekiel's day!
The people of Israel had forgotten the Lord. They would be in the Lord's temple, yet worshiping the sun rather than to the Lord! (Ezekiel chapter 8)
The people of Israel were forgetting God and bowing down to idols. This angered the Lord and He told Ezekiel that He would kill those who did not worship Him and have their bodies lay before their idols.
Ezekiel 6 verse 7 says, "And the slain shall fall in your midst, and you shall know that I am the Lord."
The Lord does not want to be insulted! He wants us to know that He is the Lord and there is no other! I know the Lord is the only God and I will serve Him only.
