Day 234

Part of the way through Ezekiel chapter 23, I realized that Oholah and Oholibah are actually metaphors for Samaria and Jerusalem.

All of chapter 23 explains how God sees the sins of His people. He sees them lusting over the ways of the Assyrians and the Babylonians; worshiping their idols and intermarrying.

The Lord saw this as a spouse or a lover cheating on Him! He compared them to prostitutes and eventually handed them over to their evil ways, which in reality was when the Babylonians overtook them.

I often wonder how the Lord sees me and my actions. I do sin and sometimes, I lust over the ways of those who are not Christians. I am tempted too. I wonder how this makes the Lord feel. He gave so much for me, but I so quickly turn from Him and chase after temporary indulgences that I know displease Him.

I will try to keep in mind the thoughts of the Lord and how He sees sin as cheating on Him! I will continue to do all I can to chase after the Lord alone.
