In chapter1, all of the men fit to be warriors for Israel were counted. This list did not include the Levites. Instead, the Levites had a special duty. They were called to guard the tabernacle. They were to guard the people gathered there, and the tabernacle itself. Chapter 3 verse 10 says, "...if any outsider comes near, he shall be put to death."
I think this is really cool. The Levites were called specifically to guard the tabernacle, and also minister within it.
It makes me wonder what special things I am called to do. What special assignments does God have for me? I am anxious to find out.
