All too often I get caught up in my own plans and agendas. I forget about thinking of others. Chapter 22 verses 1 through 4 talk about this. They say, "You shall not see your brother’s ox or his sheep going astray and ignore them. You shall take them back to your brother. And if he does not live near you and you do not know who he is, you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall stay with you until your brother seeks it. Then you shall restore it to him. And you shall do the same with his donkey or with his garment, or with any lost thing of your brother’s, which he loses and you find; you may not ignore it. You shall not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and ignore them. You shall help him to lift them up again."
What this is saying is when you see someone who needs your help, don't ignore them. Help them! This can be a tough lesson for several people, especially me. I have found myself to have the mentality of "struggles build character" and "no one helped me when I was in that situation." There are several others, but what this passage is saying is that is wrong!
If you see your brother in need, don't ignore them!
My wife's parents demonstrate this perfectly. They are two of my role models. When they see a need, they are right there to lend a helping hand. They are a true example of what this is talking about.
I need to be more like them and do what this passage says. Don't ignore someone in need.
