I find it interesting how the daughters of Zelophehad came up again in Joshua. There were only daughters in the family and spoke up to claim their inheratence in the land of Canaan.
There is much debate in the church about females in leadership roles. I honestly haven't made up my mind, but I believe this reference does support the rights of women.
I find it difficult in the English Bible to fully interpret the role of women in the church due to certain limitations of the English language. Irving Bible Church in Irving, Texas spent a lot of time looking into this and came to the conclusion to let their female associate pastor lead certain services. I have been going to this church for almost 2 years and I support the church, but I am still undecided. Jackie Roese always does a great job but it is different for me to see a female leading the service.
This is just food for thought and it is something I am still undecided about, but I will continue to attend and support Irving Bible Church.
